Encountering The Father
Philippians 4:6

Week 12/Day 5

Philippians 4:6 (NLT)
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he does.

Hey, y’all, it’s Daisy. And this Encountering The Father message is a confession. I just got home from lunch with a friend, and I realized halfway through our lunch we were thirty minutes into hanging out, and I had spent fifteen of those minutes just talking in circles about something that was bothering me. And I kind of stopped myself, and I was like, I have been talking about this a lot, haven’t I? And she was like, yeah. And I was like, Okay. I feel like there is something for me to learn here.

So, I came back and got my journal out. And I realized this is something that’s been bothering me for a while. And it’s something I have just been ruminating over. And I was like, you know, I haven’t really prayed about this. I’ve just thought about it a lot. And I’ve worried about it. And I think that I’ve tried to control it or fix it. But, in my head, I was just thinking, Well, God knows my thoughts, and he knows my circumstances. I don’t have to… he knows. He knows this is bothering me. That, to me, felt like a good enough prayer.

But it wasn’t it me laying something down at God’s feet and saying, “I can’t do this. I can’t figure this out. It’s driving me crazy. Like, help me.” You know?  And so I wonder if this happens a lot more than we really consider. How often do we think we’re praying about something? We might mention this in our prayers. But mostly, we’re talking about it to our friends; we’re trying to figure out the solution. We’re panicked over it. But we’re not really praying about it.

And so, what I want to do is encourage you to start praying more than you talk about your problems. Really start taking things to God and saying, I cannot do this. I do not know how to fix this. I don’t know where to begin. But this is between you and me, and I want to keep bringing this to you and leaving at your feet as many times as it takes because I know that you’re the only one who can help me.

So, just repositioning our heart towards prayer and towards God, a little bit, and not taking him for granted as just “a part of our life that sees and knows everything.” Bring him into the situation more than you’re bringing your friends into the situation because he is the only one who can actually implement real change.

So, those are my thoughts for today. I’m praying for you, and I love you. I hope that this message finds you well.
