I Will Not Be Moved
Psalm 62:5-8

Week 15

Psalm 62 was written by King David during an extremely difficult time – when things appeared to be going against him. And David is talking to his SOUL – to ALL that he is – and he convincing himself to maintain his trust in God. He’s talking to himself – He’s telling himself – Wait silently before God and trust in God alone.

And he is reassuring himself – that God is at work and that God alone is where his victory, and honor, and refuge will come from.

Then, in verse 8, David turns to us and tells us the same thing – that we can trust in God at all times and that God himself, and God alone, is our refuge – our shelter – our fortress.

So – Let’s take a minute to LISTEN to Psalm 62:5-8, and then pray through it.

Psalm 62:5–8 (NLT)
5 Let all that I am (all that is within me) wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. (my hope is in God alone)
6 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken.
7 My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock (my safe place) where no enemy can reach me.
8 O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.

Lord, God Almighty, all that I am will wait quietly upon you alone. My hope and my trust are in you, God, alone. You alone, Lord, are my Rock and my Salvation. You alone, Lord, are my Defense and my Fortress. In you alone, I shall not be moved. With you alone, God, rests my victory and my honor; You alone are my Rock of unyielding strength. You are my refuge; you are my security; you are my shelter from the storm.

And so, Lord, I will trust in you, lean on you, rely on you, and have confidence in you alone, at all times and in every circumstance. I pour out my heart to you, God, for you alone are my refuge, my fortress, and my strength – I commit this all in your mighty name, Jesus, Amen!

As we close today – would you Take a minute to APPLY this truth specifically to a situation in your life – talk to God personally and specifically about it, and make this commitment of whole-hearted trust in him alone in that specific situation.

And then – RESPOND to what you’ve heard God speak to you today, thru his Word and by his Spirit. Tell God what you will do and how you will respond to what he has impressed on your heart during this time in his Word.

And be sure to thank him in a closing prayer.
