God is on the Move

Psalm 25:8-9 (NLT) The Lord is good and does what is right; he shows the proper path to those who go astray. 9 He leads the humble in doing right, teaching them his way.

I had a youth pastor who used to tell us that “God is always on the move.” God is aware. God is always present, attentive, and vigilant. There is never a time when he isn’t orchestrating a lesson or a miracle. And because God is an active God and we are made in His image, it means that our faith must also be active.

Our faith, by nature, is certain belief in God and his promises. Active faith is one where we see the invisible and unleash the power of God in our own lives by listening to his leading and guiding and then obeying. It’s where we push our faith, stretching and answering challenges God gives us. (Yes, it’s work.)

And even when our faith can feel like some sort of ethereal, mystical quality, remember that faith is belief at its core. It is the choice to trust in God when an outcome may seem distant or non-existent. When we believe in God and trust him that our outcomes in life can be different, even in the face of apparent obstacles, we grow in that faith.

Faith is simple, but it's not always easy. It is a choice to lean into those difficulties, burdens, and circumstances we have no answers to. (Faith is unnecessary if we have all the answers to our problems.) Active faith produces results. Active faith acts on the truth that it knows God is in control. God responds to our faith, and he brings results that glorify his name.

Questions: Where is God guiding you today? Where is he asking you to be active in faith and mindful in your actions? Where do you need to rely on God instead of yourself? Where do you need to take action on the promises of his Word and utilize them in your life?

Prayer: Lord, I don’t always know where I’m going, but I do know that because I belong to you and I listen for your voice, I am being led down the path of righteousness. Give me the courage and motivation to obey you when I hear you speak to me, and give me the discipline to keep going even when I think you’re being silent. In Jesus’ name, amen.
