In The Wilderness
Hey, y’all, it’s Daisy. Today I want to share a devotional that I wrote in the Alone With God journal. If you don’t have the Alone With God journal, that’s okay. But please get one. Today’s devotional is titled “In The Wilderness.”
Isaiah 43:19 (ESV)
19 Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
Sometimes, the seasons of our lives can feel really dry and weary, like the wilderness. And our difficulties and our pain can parch our spirits like the scorching desert sun. But just as God sustained the Israelites on their journey, he promises to supply us with Living Water to refresh our souls. And Jesus said all who thirst should come to him to drink without cost. His Word revives our hearts and nourishes our inner being. When we feel empty, or we feel overcome by life’s trials, all we have to do is call out to him, and the Holy Spirit will fill us with his enduring presence. And he will pour love into our hearts until they overflow with it.
So, turn to the Lord again today. Get up. Get up and face him if you feel weak. His grace will fall like gentle rain over the hard, cracked places of your life. And he will fill up your cup until it runs over with joy. Because, after all, God loves to share his victories with us. And he will be victorious in your life.
Let’s pray. Father, I trust that you have led me into this wilderness to change me. To transform me and heal me, and to reveal yourself to me on a deeper level. I trust in your plan for me and for my life, as well as your willilngness and your ability to provide for me here. I don’t want to grumble. And I don’t want to fight you, Lord. I want to thank you for the manna, and for the provisions from your hand. And just as you hold nothing back from me, I want to hold nothing back from you. I don’t want to dismiss your promises and not take them seriously. So, help me to remember that every resurrection follows a death. And that joy can still exist in suffering and in sorrow. Please give me Kingdom eyes to you at work. In Jesus’ name, amen.
