Living In The Gap

Ezekiel 22:30 (NLT) 30 “I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I wouldn’t have to destroy the land, but I found no one.

God told Ezekiel to rebuild the wall of righteousness and minister to the Israelites because He needed a messenger to remind them of His love for them. Ezekiel was chosen to stand in the gap. He warned the people of God’s wrath and encouraged them to repent so that they would be spared.

We are living in intimidating times. Some days, it seems that the world is consumed with evil. As Christians, we are being called to stand in the gap and tell the world the truth about who God is and who we are as creation. In a world facing a true identity crisis, we need people who are courageous enough to deliver a tough message to people who are lost and don’t necessarily want to change. But, with something as important as the future of a nation, our obedience to God must outweigh the desire to stay silent.

As you begin to think about ways in which you can share the Good News of the Gospel and the truth of the Bible, here are a few tips to keep in mind:
Pray and ask for wisdom before you speak
Be encouraging instead of judgemental
Listen well without arguing
Close the conversation by reminding them that God loves them and that He is ready to welcome them with open arms if they will consider exploring a relationship with Him

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for showing us an example of true bravery and obedience in the story of Ezekiel. I pray that you would give me and my fellow Christians the courage and strength to stand in the gap for our country and our world. In Jesus’ name, amen.
